AN-LING

In Chinese culture, An-Ling is also referred to as "Shu Ling" or "Ji Ling." It serves as a Memorial Service to pay tribute to our departed loved ones who have passed from this world. This heartfelt service takes place after the funeral procession and cremation have concluded. Family members place the deceased's portrait, a temporary pedestal, and the incense pot used during the funeral in their home, temple, or columbarium, where the Memorial Service is conducted.

The duration of An-Ling can extend from forty-nine days to one year or even up to three years. Throughout this period, the family offers daily food to the departed, once during the day and once in the evening.

Upon the conclusion of An-Ling, the family may choose to proceed with the "He Lu" ritual, allowing them to continue offering prayers and offerings to the ancestral tablet in the future. This cherished tradition provides a comforting journey for both the departed and the living, fostering a sense of closure and the strength to move forward from grief with enduring love and respect.

REMOVAL OF LONGEVITY LABEL

The "Removal of Longevity Label" is a thoughtful service we offer at our memorial center. In instances where the names of living family members have been engraved on the pedestal to celebrate their health and longevity, we delicately place a special Longevity sticker over their names. However, when the time comes for them to depart from this world, our dedicated Ceremonial Officer will respectfully perform the Removal of Longevity Label.

This meaningful ritual is often carried out in conjunction with the Chai Ling ceremony and follows a similar procedure to that of the pedestal installation. Our compassionate team ensures that every step is handled with utmost care and reverence.

DEPARTURE CEREMONY

The Departure Ceremony holds profound significance as a heartfelt occasion for family members to find solace, pay tribute to their departed loved ones, express gratitude for the precious moments shared, and come to a sense of peace. It is a solemn yet uplifting ceremony, embodying the belief that the departed soul is embarking on its final journey, guided by the compassionate embrace of the Three Saints (representing the holy triad of the Western Paradise in Buddhist tradition).

During the Departure Ceremony, family members gather to bid farewell to their loved ones with profound love and reverence. It serves as a beautiful opportunity for closure and remembrance, allowing the living to convey their deepest emotions.

INTERMENT OF URN

Following the Departure Ceremony, the Interment of Urn is a solemn and meaningful step in the final journey of your departed loved one. As we proceed to the designated niche location, the process is carried out with utmost respect and reverence.

If the niche is situated in Block A, a family member, symbolically representing the departed, will carry the urn. Upon reaching the location, a heartfelt gesture of paying respect to the Earth Deity is performed with three bows, symbolizing our connection to the earth and our gratitude for the life that was lived.

The next phase involves ascending the center stairs to enter the main hall. Before proceeding to the Suite, a moment of reverence is observed to pay respects to our revered Amitabha Buddha. This act honors the spiritual significance of the journey, seeking blessings and guidance for the departed soul's peaceful transition.

PEDESTAL INSTALLATION

In the rich tapestry of Chinese tradition, the act of praying to the pedestal holds deep cultural significance as a way to bestow blessings of Longevity and Prosperity upon future generations. However, the demands of modern living, limited space, and fast-paced lifestyles have made it increasingly challenging for many descendants to maintain an altar table at home and dedicate ample time to pay their utmost respect to their ancestors.

At Nirvana, we understand the importance of maintaining this timeless connection with our roots. To address these challenges, we offer a dedicated Pedestal Installation service, providing a sacred space where families can honour their ancestors in a serene and comforting environment. Our commitment to preserving this cherished tradition goes beyond providing a space; it extends to ensuring that our Housekeeping Team meticulously maintains the area, creating a clean and welcoming atmosphere for our loved ones' spiritual journey.
